Work has been such a revelation for me in terms of what one has to do to move ahead in life. I see life becoming more and more difficult for me the more I try to stick on to my so-called principles and beliefs, more so because in this world where materialistic benefits are sought after, morals don’t hold.
As they say, change is inevitable, embrace it, resisting will do you no good. I didn’t feel the pinch or the necessity to deviate from my beliefs in my previous job stint as the performance and my capabilities were measured by how well I serviced my clients, how good were the products produced from my stable and how well was I able to get my work done at the end of the day with out passing on the damage to the customer.
All the above mentioned is null and void now. All that matters now is that my performance and capabilities will be measured by how well I lick, since I seem to be taking good care of my clients and anyways I don’t have the decision making powers like I did in my previous job to take a call on the clients.
Now, my well-wishers have been constantly advising me – licking is not to make sure your capabilities are noticed but to make sure your capabilities don’t go un-noticed. Well neither am I in a position to dispute this nor am I willing to accept it…. can I call it catch 22!! Probably yes, guess I can :)
As much as I keep telling myself, am beginning to realize that yes, it’s the need of the hour. It’s going to take sometime and I am learning the hard way, but am learning nevertheless. I would probably try and lick my way to the top in 2007 :)
