(Does) It happen(s) only in India!!??!!!

I am not the most obedient of drivers/riders on the road; I usually cover the whole width of the road when I ride but rarely do I break signals, ride on the wrong side of the road or do something of real danger either to myself or to people on the road. Yes, I have broken signals, but that primarily would be due to a rare loss of concentration.

I haven’t driven across the different roads in the various countries, but I have had the opportunity to do so in Bangalore, Trichy and obviously in Chennai. Apart from this I have also had the opportunity to observe the way people drive in places like Hyderabad, Cochin, Coimbatore, Kolkata, Delhi, Pune, Simla, Kulu Manali and even Agra.

I find that people hardly respect signals and are very impatient when it comes to signals. The timer shows 03, people are off…vroooom!!! There is no lane discipline, absolutely nothing!! Above all this, No one gives a damn about the Stop line. But then, who cares. The cop stands a mute spectator to all this.

Check this out. This happened today morning on my way to work. This happens everyday at this signal. There are loads of signals in the city that are a witness to such disobedience.

The law can do hell a lot of things to curb such acts, but unless the realization & responsibility comes from within, the effect shall always remain nullified!!!!
