This was the ad campaign that GM India carried out just before the introduction of the Chevrolet brand of cars in India. This was similar to the campaign carried out in the US as an ‘American Revolution’.GM India tired the same concept here. Incorporate the culture of India and touch a cord with the Indian population. The concept again here is called ‘Emotional Advertising’ where one uses advertisements to appeal to certain emotional desires.
Now I just love this ad simply for the way it was taken, simply for what it conveyed (or atleast what I understood at that point in time), for an automobile lover ‘The Chevy’ is the brand to own.
I couldn’t get my hands on the storyboard and hence it was not a part of my all time favourite ads list…. But nevertheless this one was always there in my mind and hence is an all time favourite too.
Apparently the whole idea of the ‘I am Chevrolet' campaign is to make the brand culturally relevant so that it meets the need of the Indian market. Now how far this ad made an impact I really don’t know, I sort of went into wilderness for sometime ;-)
